Swimming ban lifted in Kilkee

A SWIMMING ban in Kilkee has been lifted after the HSE confirmed that water samples taken on Thursday show that the water is clean again.

Clare County Council, following consultation with the HSE, imposed restrictions on public bathing at Kilkee beach earlier this week.

On Wednesday afternoon, the advisory notice was issued by the local authority after elevated levels of microbiological contamination were recorded in a routine bathing water sample in Kilkee.

As a result, bathers were advised not to swim in the sea at Kilkee.

However, The Council confirmed the results of water sampling tests carried out on Thursday show the water is clean.
