GAA – Limerick suffer defeat against Clare in Thurles

Screen Shot 2016-07-09 at 19.53.41THE LIMERICK senior hurlers crashed out of the All Ireland Hurling championship this evening following a 0-18 to 0-15 loss in Thurles. Limerick raced into a 5-2 lead after just 18 minutes, however, 9 unanswered points from Clare before half time ended the game as a contest with the result never really in doubt.

With the scoreline standing at 0-11 to 0-5 at the half, Limerick needed to respond early in the second, however they merely went point for point in the second half which allowed Clare to comfortably progress in to the quarter finals.

In what was an all round lackluster performance from Limerick, attention will now turn to the future of Limerick manager TJ Ryan and his backroom team. The men in charge of Limerick were coming under increasing pressure in recent seasons and the failure to reach the All Ireland quarter final for the second season in a row, could seal their fate. More to come in this week’s Limerick Post Newspaper.
