THE National Youth Orchestra of Ireland (NYOI) is set to tour Ireland with Limerick based composer and pianist, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin who leads the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.

They are coming to University Concert Hall this Friday July 22 at 8pm.

The Orchestra, conducted by Gearóid Grant, comprises Ireland’s most talented 12-18 year olds. Now it presents an ambitious programme as part of its National Summer Proms tour including Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74 (Pathétique).

Prof Ó Súilleabháin will join the musicians on stage as piano soloist for a performance of his best loved works and guest musician is the renowned traditional flute player, Niall Keegan.

Two young locals will also perform on July 22, Zoe Stedje, a cellist living in the city and Cathal Daly, a violinist from Newcastle West.
