A LIMERICK man is recovering in hospital this Sunday after he was rescued unconscious from a blazing house fire in Coonagh on Saturday night.

Gardai, Emergency Paramedics and three units from Limerick City Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the house fire in Coonagh on the outskirts of the city shortly after 10.30pm.

Neighbours in the Coonagh area notified emergency services that a man had been trapped inside.

The man, in his 70s, was unconscious inside the burning house.

Fire crews, wearing Breathing apparatus kits carried out an extensive search of the house, which was well alight.

The man was located and pulled to safety where he was put on oxygen and quickly regained consciousness.

Awaiting paramedics further treated him before he was taken to University Hospital Limerick for further treatment.

Meantime crews from White Watch also dealt with an industrial unit in Annacotty

Meantime, it was a busy night for the crew of ‘White Watch’ from Limerick City Fire and Rescue were also sent to an industrial fire at Annacotty.
