Kilfinane hosting HearSay Audio Arts Festival

AT THE end of September, the east Limerick village of Kilfinane becomes the centre of the audio world during the Third HearSay International Audio Arts Festival, September 29 to October 1.

Attendees from 25 countries have booked their places and will engage with the world’s finest audio makers from radio documentary, podcasts, sound art, audio fiction, theatre and film sound.

There will be 80 events taking place involving Emmy Award, BAFTA, Peabody, PPI, Prix Italia, Prix Europa, Golden Reel Winners, in 19 venues from living rooms to converted churches. ”No name badges, just creativity and collaboration,” is the mission.

The shortlists for nine awards are complete, with entries from audio makers from 22 countries.

“The standard was incredible. Every single entry was listened to by at least four judges and all entries were judged anonymously. Longlists were then created for each of the streams and each piece on the longlists were listened to by a further eight judges.”
