Anthology’s doors to the world

Kelpie Pearls, painted by Ophelia Redpath

THAT colourful ode to culture, fashion and travel, ‘Anthology; a collection of beautiful experiences’, emerged early for 2018. Published by Limerick woman Edel Cassidy, this fifth 100-page journal roams from the YSL Museum in Paris to Belleek and Waterford Castles, into the works of various Irish artists and the pre-Raphaelites, whose style Ireland’s 20th William Orpen admired.

Overseas the food and Trulli architecture of Puglia in south eastern Italy make for an eye-watering feature. Cover story is always an artist, often female and of international renown.

Bear in mind that Anthology was nominated in November’s Irish Magazine Awards for Cover of the Year and Designer of the Year (Roslyn Woodward of Adare) when just a year old.

This season’s love is Cambridge born Ophelia Redpat (picture), interviewed by Cassidy herself on her colourful 30 years as painter and writer.

Anthology’s €3.50 price puts a daily newspaper in the shade; a keeper for the bookshelf.
