Last Saturday Vines Grill and Bar & Restaurant Ballyneety hosted a charity valentines ball in aid of MPS and in memory of Martina Lynch.

Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) and related diseases are Lysosmal Storage Disease. They are rare, life limiting, progressive, genetic conditions caused by the shortage of a particular enzyme.

Sister of Martina Lynch, Marion Lynch said there was no better way to commemorate her sister who passed away ten years ago this year.

“We thought the ball was a well suited idea because she was always so happy and loved making everyone else happy”.

The ball also raises funds for the Irish MPS society who Marion praises for their help over the last number of years.

“We also used it as a way of raising money for the Irish MPS society who have done so much for us over the years, They gave us the space and opportunity to meet new families who were in a similar situation to us. The families we met were such a big support system in our lives,” she explained.

The ball went off without a hitch which Marion says is mainly down to the help of the staff at Vines Grill and Wine Bar as well as the music of Eire Ceol and DJ Dan Shanahan.
