#BREAKING Emergency operation at Gardens International

The emergency operation underway at Gardens International site on Henry Street

CONSTRUCTION work at the multi million euro Gardens International development in Limerick City ground to a halt this Tuesday morning as an operation unfolded to rescue an injured man.

Shortly before 10am, a scaffolder suffered injury to his back as he was erecting scaffolding on the top roof section of the €17.6m development set for completion and full occupation next November.

Four units from Limerick City Fire and Rescue attended the scene after the alarm was raised that the man had suffered what is understood to be a back spasm while working at the site.

An emergency rescue operation quickly swung into action and the man was assessed and will be removed from the site by a cage which is attached to the site crane and brought to University Hospital Limerick for assessment.

Traffic delays and a single lane of traffic is in operation on Henry Street as the emergency operation continues.
