More arrests as Garda Operation Thor targets burglars

Gardai arrested a man in connection with nine burglaries carried out in the Limerick suburbs

 

GARDA patrols, operating as a part of Operation Thor, intercepted and arrested two men suspected of carrying out burglaries in Limerick.

Gardaí attached to Henry Street arrested the two men as part of the dedicated operation targeting organised crime.

The males were arrested following two burglary incidents in the Castletroy area of Limerick during the early hours of last Thursday morning.

The arrests were made at 3.30am and the two men were detained at Shannon Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Sergeant Ber Leetch said ‘This is the second night in a row that Gardaí on Operation Thor patrols have arrested suspects for burglary in the Castletroy area.

During the early hours of Wednesday, four men, in ages ranging from their late teens to their 30s, were arrested as part of the same operation and two men have now been charged before the courts.

The males were arrested in connection with two burglaries and the unauthorised taking of a car.

The other two men remain in custody at Roxboro Road Garda Station.

“I would like to remind residents to secure all windows and doors in their home and to set your alarm, even when at home”, Sgt Leetch said.

“Store your keys safely and away from windows and letterboxes. Be vigilant and if you notice anything suspicious phone your local Garda station immediately.
