Sex assault on Limerick student under investigation

Gardai are reviewing CCTV in connection with the assault of a woman walking home in Limerick

GARDAI have launched an investigation in Limerick after a young student was sexually assaulted by a man in what was described as a “planned pre-meditated attack”.

The incident under investigation centres around an attack on a woman aged in her 20s near Moyola Terrace on the Ennis Road on April 17 last.

At around 3am as the woman walked home, she was knocked to the ground by a man wearing dark clothing, a hooded top and latex gloves.

She was then assaulted, had her phone taken and was further threatened by the man in what gardai believe to be a violent, planned and pre-meditated attack.

It is understood that the woman gave a description to specially trained interviewers and investigating officers have now circulated that description of the suspect to Garda Stations throughout the island including the PSNI, Europol and Interpol
