Carbery among six Munster players named in Irish side to face Australia

Joey Carbery is among six Munster players named by Irish head coach Joe Schmidt that plays Australia in the first of three tests on Saturday.

Peter O’Mahony will captain the side in the absence of Rory Best and is joined by fellow Munsterman CJ Stander in the back row alongside Jordi Murphy.

Carbery will partner Conor Murray at half back, while Keith Earls takes his place on the right wing. John Ryan is the other Munster player named in the starting XV.

Elsewhere, Rob Kearney and Jacob Stockdale are named alongside Earls in the same back three that helped Ireland win the Six Nations Grand Slam. Robbie Henshaw and Bundee Aki are named in midfield as the two starting centres.

Jack McGrath and Ulster’s Rob Herring make up the front row with Ryan, while Iain Henderson and James Ryan will play in the second row. The game is live on Sky Sports Main Event on Saturday at 11am.
