THE standout moment for James Chawke at the North West 200 in Antrim when the Rathkeale rider powered his Cold Stores/CRSC BMW through the speed trap at an incredible 204.65 MPH, officially placing him well into the prestigious 200 MPH Club.
This was a massive achievement and a reward for Chawke and his Boss-E Racing Team.
On the Supertwin machine, he also achieved an impressive 165.4 MPH through the trap. He also set a new PB at the circuit with a 118.025 MPH.
Chawke also put together a series of strong rides across multiple classes on board such machines as RL Racing’s Aprilia (run by Richard Latimer), Lyonara Cold Stores/CRSC BMW and CRSC Suzuki.
For his brother Liam, the weekend was another important step forward in his road racing journey, continuing to build confidence, experience, and pace against extremely competitive fields.
Tackling the daunting North West circuit requires commitment and precision, and Liam showed strong progression every time he headed out onto the track.
He fared well aboard a CRSC Suzuki and the Chawkie Racing Supporters Club Suzuki.
Chawke also posted impressive speed trap figures during the week, reaching 188.8 MPH on the Suzuki 1000 and 174.9 MPH on the 750.
It was a poignant weekend following the death in the qualifiers of Kamil Holan, whose family wished for the event to go ahead in his honour.
Chawkie Racing expressed their deepest condolences on the tragic loss of a fellow rider.
