Man arrested after fleeing stolen car as second man on the run

A HIGH speed chase on the outskirts of Limerick city led Gardai to arrest a man who was travelling at speed in a stolen car that had been taken during a burglary this Monday morning.

Gardaí in Mayorstone arrested a man in his 30s following a burglary and unauthorised taking of a vehicle at a house in Bellfield Park on the Ennis Road.

Shortly after 5:30am, Gardaí on patrol observed a vehicle traveling at speed on the Childers Road and following a short pursuit, two men exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene.

One of the men was arrested and conveyed to Henry Street Garda Station where he is was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A garda spokesperson said that the second man made good his escape but he is still being sought in relation to this incident.
