#BREAKING Car and school bus involved in early morning crash

SIX children are amongst the nine people that have been injured as a result of an early morning collision between a school bus and a car in County Limerick this Thursday morning.

Emergency services are attending the scene in Ahane near the the National school where a school bus was involved in a collision with a car at around 8am.

Six children, two adults and a teen were taken to hospital when the 29-seater bus crashed en route to Newport Secondary School when the incident occurred.

The driver and passenger in the car were amongst those hospitalised.

The alarm was raised when one of the school bus passengers ran to a house nearby.

Five units from Limerick City Fire and Rescue and stations in Cappamore and Newport were dispatched along with Gardai and Emergency Paramedics.

The road remains closed and local diversions are in place as emergency services tend to the injured.
