CHRISTMAS will run from November until early January at Bunratty Castle where a range of seasonal activities, including an ice staking rink and a pantomime, will showcase one of the country’s top tourist attractions.

A festive family breakfast with Santa Claus will get the activities underway in the Bunratty Castle Banquet Hall on Saturday and Sunday, December 1 and 2 when the man himself will appear on the balcony to join in the merriment at the breakfast tables.

The traditional village street at Bunratty Folk Park has been transformed into a Christmas wonderland with a carousel, storyteller and puppet theatre as well as a host of popular characters doing the rounds until Sunday, December 23.

And for a magical winter experience, make sure to circle Bunratty’s latest holiday highlight – the ice rink right in the centre of the Folk Park. Skate around the rink before going to see Santa and his elves and don’t forget to visit Mrs Claus in her kitchen as she prepares for the big night.

Another highlight of the festive season is the Christmas evening banquets, Shannon Heritage’s special festive season programme which captures the essence of Christmas for all ages to enjoy for family or company outings on various dates from December 1 to 23.

And the fun doesn’t have to end on St Stephen’s Day.

From December 28 to 30 and January 2 to 6, you can follow the story of Padraic the Elf on his adventurous search for the princess Cora at this year’s classical Pantomime “The Princess and the Dragon” in Bunratty Castle.
