Munster and the IRFU have announced that 12 players have signed contract extensions at the province. Nine of the players have come through the Munster Academy.
John Ryan, JJ Hanrahan, Jack O’Donoghue, Rory and Niall Scannell, Darren Sweetnam, Alex Wootton, Fineen Wycherley and Calvin Nash have all made the leap from the Academy to the first team at Munster in recent years and have all been rewarded with new deals.
Arno Botha has also been recognised for his fine start to his Munster career by signing an extension that will keep him at the province until Summer 2020. Jeremy Loughman has also extended his contract by a year.
Ryan has penned a three-year-deal, fresh from scoring his first International try for Ireland against the USA in the final Autumn International.
The Scannell brothers have agreed contracts for a further two years, as have Sweetnam, Hanrahan, O’Donoghue, Wootton, Marshall, Wycherley and Nash.
The announcement is a huge boost for Munster following on from Conor Murray, Keith Earls, Chris Farrell, Chris Cloete, Tommy O’Donnell, James Cronin, Gavin Coombes and Shane Daly signing deals in October.
It was also announced recently that Leinster scrum half Nick McCarthy will also be joining Munster next year on a two year deal.
