INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed singer-songwriter Don Mescall released his first studio album in 12 years which took the Number 1 slot in the Irish Album Charts in late 2018.

He brought an extraordinary and extensive line up to University Concert Hall for the hometown launch of ‘Lighthouse Keeper’ which was a complete sellout for the Ahane songwriter.

Don told Limerick Post, “The vibe in that room was amazing. One of the best nights of my life.

“There was just magic in the room, Sharon Corr and Stella Parton to get up and sing was amazing. My old music teacher from Newport and my mother came along too.”

Paul Brady, Stella Parton, Christy Dignam (of Aslan), Dutch recording artist Desray, Eleanor Shanley, Na Fianna, Lisa McHugh and Shay Healy and two school choirs joined Don and the band on stage.

This sold out show is to become an annual event with a show booked for University Concert Hall this year on Saturday November 16.

Don was under pressure to book this launch in Dublin, but he stuck to his plans to bring this extraordinary show back home.

“I was put under pressure to have it in Dublin. I said, ‘I’m from Limerick and that is where it is going to be’. And on the week the album goes to Number One – I feel happy about that.”

Listeners are picking up on his track ‘The Last Song’ from the new album. Don got to perform it with over 100 people onstage.

For 2019, Don will be back in the studio writing and recording an album of duets with Stella Parton.
