Puss in Sixmilebridge boots

Four weekend dates in February and March

IT’S almost pantomime season in Sixmilebridge as the local youth club gets set to take to the stage with its production of ‘Puss in Boots’.

The popular event takes place in the local GAA Hall over the final weekend of February and beginning of March. There are 8pm starts on Friday February 22, Friday March 1 and Saturday March 2. The performance on Saturday February 23 is a late evening matinée beginning at 6pm.

“The panto tells the story of Puss in Boots (Aoibhe Ward-Murphy), the magic cat who promises to make Prince Harry (Ben Murphy) rich and famous,” reports acting principal Liam Togher/ Dame Carrie Brown. “In order to make that dream come true, Puss goes into battle with tyrannical ogre Peter Puckoff (Emmanuel Okubanjo) for his land. Meanwhile, widowed panto dame Carrie Brown (Liam) seeks a new flame and has her eye on royal accountant Casherella (Ben Naughton-Shires).

More than 60 young people from Sixmilebridge will dazzle audiences with stunning musical numbers, energetic dance routines and, as always, witty and lively comedy.

Tickets for a modest price for Sixmilebridge Youth Club’s ‘Puss in Boots’ are available from members and local shops.
