LIMERICK’s young musicians will be in action at the regional qualifiers of the Irish Youth Music Awards (IYMA) at Limerick Youth Service’s Lava Javas Youth Café on Lower Glentworth Street this Friday, March 15.

The competition is open to singer/songwriters and groups from 13 to 18 years of age from all musical genres, with the winners representing Limerick at the National Finals in Dublin next May.

It gives young musicians and those interested in all aspects of the music industry, both on stage and behind the scenes, a chance to experience the live music scene.

‘It is more about group work and development rather than a ‘simply the best’ competition – so all levels are welcome for the regional qualifier,’ said John Real of the Limerick Youth Service.

Limerick has a vibrant youth music scene and local group Elenay is among the list of previous winners.
