Merlin and his many facets

PART of our 3rd annual Limerick Fringe Festival running April 3 to 6, the Iseli-Chiodi Dance Company brings its show ‘Merlin’ to Dance Limerick.

Featuring “an original soundtrack, striking costumes and an outstanding international cast,” ‘Merlin’ is performed by a quintet of contemporary dancers on Thursday April 4 at the John’s Square venue. 8pm show.

The title character is a mythical creature of many facets.

“We were both captivated by the mythical mischievous Merlin and his lingering presence in European Culture, Jasmine Chiodi tells Arts Page, speaking also for the company’s Alexandre Iseli. “As choreographers, the physical metamorphosis of Merlin – the Wizard, the Druid, Shaman and Madman – provoked a deeper exploration into his world. Through this line of enquiry and in reference to Jean Markale’s study of the character Merlin, we set out to create an exciting, risk-taking performance with our cast and creative team.”

This dancer and choreographer describes the work as “dynamically charged, highly physical, oscillating between chaos and order.”
