ALL the way from Amsterdam North, The Nordanians are billed as “a steaming triple engine from the hottest part of town”. They visit Limerick for the bank holiday weekend, booked into Dolan’s Upstairs by host producer, Limerick Jazz Society for Friday May 3.

The Nordanias are accomplished, comprised of Oene van Geel (viola), Mark Tuinstra (guitar) and Niti Ranjan Biswas (tabla virtuoso). Once they were familiar with playing together they started writing songs  based on traditional ragas, smashing funk and delicate chamber music.

“This gave them a great new impulse on stage for even more interaction and improvisation and built a rocking live reputation,” says John Daly of LJS. “One music critic for the Dutch daily De Volkskrant has described them as ‘an acrobatic trio in an organic coherence’.”

A hot and happening gig to open out the three day weekend, this Friday, 9pm.
