The Republic of Ireland Team made up of Limericks William O’Connor and Carlow’s Steve Lennon have sent England crashing out of the BetVictor World Cup of Darts this evening on a scoreline of 2 sets to nil.
ADVANTAGE IRELAND!
After Michael Smith has two darts bounce out of the bullseye in this last leg shootout, Steve Lennon cleans up and puts Ireland 1-0 up over England!
It was Steve Lennon who took to the oche first to take on World Number 6 Michael Smith in a race to 4 legs. The pair traded back and fourth before Lennon took the last leg in convincing fashion and a 1 set to nil lead for the Republic of Ireland.
The second set came the turn of Cappamore’s William O’Connor who faced 2018 PDC World Champion and World Number 2 Rob Cross. O’Connor made light work of the Englishman and took out 64 with a double 16 finish to seal the match 4-1 for the Republic of Ireland.
