Nashville greats feature in Country tribute show

IT IS a sure-fire hit machine of all killer, no filler classic American Country classics from some fine singers and an electric live band which has been enjoyed by over 250,000 punters by now.

The Legends of American Country Show is like a whistle-stop tour of Nashville music greats with hits from Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Patsy Cline and Kenny Rogers, Hank Williams, Charley Pride, Glen Campbell, Tammy Wynette and Don Williams.

James McGarrity, musical director is on the phone to Limerick Post.

“We are touring constantly across Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. Everyone in the show is either from Donegal, Tyrone or Antrim and well known within Irish Country Music circles.”

McGarrity plays keyboards in the show and gets the audience dancing in the aisle with his take on Bellemy Brothers’ hits.

With four singers, a full band with the authentic sound of a steel guitar and a visual show onstage, the audience is whisked to a night at The Grand Ole Opry.

“We are going full time with it. All the songs are global hits and well known. It is a happy-go-lucky toe tapping show.”

This “must see” extravaganza for Country Music fans is expanding its horizons with tour offers coming in from Scandinavia and Canada.

The show has had many great nights on tour. The annual sold-out gig to 1,200 at The Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow is a favourite. The troupe got a huge welcome in the north of Scotland, going 500 miles north – no joke!! – and took three ferries to get to their destination in the Outer Hebrides. The crowd lapped up every twang and chorus.

So if Parton, Cash, Cline and Williams are part of your record collection, this could be the show for you. The Legends of American Country Show plays at Lime Tree Theatre on Saturday June 29.
