Limerick Show celebrating 90 years this year

JOIN with the happy throng of 15,000 visitors, 150 trade stands and circa 1000 competitors for Limerick Show, at Limerick Racecourse on Sunday August 25.

Open from 9am to 7pm, look forward to an extraordinarily vibrant day that showcases local artisan foods, the county’s finest in rare breed cattle, fashion, dog shows, thee free kids’ zone packed with entertainment; show jumping, a Bonny Baby contest, arts and crafts and live music.

2019 is the 90th year of Limerick Show. Event manager Donie O’Connor tells Limerick Post to anticipate a major bells and whistles event. “We will have music, sweet music from Shaun O’Dowd, Gina and The Champions, Roland Collins and a number of DJs.

“This year we have a tie in with Limerick City and County Council to promote entrepreneurs and producers of the best of locally sourced food stuffs. We want to provide a forum that is very much about getting people to network, talk, meet and exchange business cards.

 “We are delighted to shine a special spotlight on local food producers, using indigenous ingredients produced by our farming community.”

As chairperson of West Limerick Heritage, Donie is interested in stimulating interest in what our fabulous culture has to offer: “We want to link in with heritage and tourism in these parts and we want people to engage in that area.”
