Gillane could miss rest of the season after broken jaw injury

Patrickswell’s hopes of regaining the Limerick SHC title have taken a huge blow with the news that star forward Aaron Gillane could miss the remainder of the season with a jaw injury.

Gillane suffered the injury during Patrickswell’s draw with Kilmalllock at the LIT Gaelic Grounds on Friday night, a game in which he scored 0-13.

Patrickswell manager Ciarán Carey confirmed to Sporting Limerick that Gillane has broken his jaw in two places and will have it operated on this Thursday.

As a result, Gillane’s participation for the rest of the season is in serious doubt. It’s a huge blow to a Patrickswell side that are unbeaten in this year’s Championship. They play Doon in their final game of the group stage on August 31st.
