Ballynanty and Pike extend winning runs

BALLYNANTY Rovers and Pike Rovers maintained their unbeaten starts to the season with two convincing wins over Nenagh and Prospect respectively on Sunday morning.

Ballynanty enjoyed a 7-0 win in Tipperary with new signing Connor Ellis adding to a first-night hat trick with another hat trick. The former Limerick striker will cause severe problems for every defence in the city. A brace from Adrian Power and one apiece from Derek Daly and Kevin Nolan completed the scoring.

Pike also had a 7-0 home victory over struggling Prospect with midfield quartet Conor Kavanagh, Steven McGann, Shane Walsh and Colin Daly (2) all on the scoresheet along with two from Eoin Hanrahan.

Fairview and Aisling Annacotty played out a six-goal thriller in Annacotty which swung both ways. Annacotty raced into a 2 goal lead with a penalty from Nathan O’Callaghan and a goal from former Shelbourne man Brendan O’Dwyer.

However, Fairview fought back with two quickfire strikes from Jeffrey Judge and Dermot Fitzgerald. Jason Purcell’s side were reduced to ten men when John Mullane was shown a straight red card for a two-footed tackle. James Fitzgerald put Fairview ahead before Nathan O’Callaghan tucked away his second penalty of the game in stoppage time to equalise.

Coonagh picked up a morale-boosting home win against in-form Regional United with a brace from Ger Myles setting them up for a 2-0 win. It is Coonagh’s first clean sheet of the season which will please John Spillane.

Geraldines continued their fine form with a 3-1 win over Mungret at the Garryowen Green. Kevin Barry (2) and Danny O’Neill scored for the home side either side of a Yakuba Yabre goal for Mungret.

Janesboro enjoyed a comfortable 4-0 victory over Kilmallock although Arron Nunan’s goal was all that separated the side for a long period. Nunan added a second before Aidan Hurley scored an unlikely brace to wrap up the victory.
