Five days of Hospital Arts Festival 2019

HOSPITAL village opens their 5th Annual Arts festival on Tuesday September 10, into Sunday 15. The biggest and longest running Arts Festival in Co Limerick will feature singer/ songwriter John Spillane and the Fabulous Bee Gees Tribute band, with a good variety of entertainment presenting over the few days.

“All through the week we have writers, poets and speakers on mental health at the local John The Baptist Community School,” reports Sean Dalton. “Young at Heart takes place on Friday night with prizewinning story teller John Carew among the many acts.

“Saturday features a troupe of artists in the local cafés and shops… Co Limerick singer/ songwriter Fergal Nash will feature with local artist Pat McMahon and John Carew. Celebrity chef Frank Moynihan will cook and provide a wine tasting on the opening night, Tuesday.”

Theatre in a Tent is a new venture that invites six local drama groups to perform a ten minute play in the marque at the GAA grounds. This is a first and includes Canavour Players, Emly, Kilfinane, Kilteely and other groups.

Limerick Animal Welfare run a dog show on Sunday and throughout the week the local shop fronts are adorned by work from visual artists in the region.

This year Hospital has twinned with its sister town Hospital De Orbigo in Spain. Enrique Marcos, the mayor and a town councillor Ana will visit and stay in the Limerick village, coming here to forge links. They will be welcomed by local fiddle player Dan Foley.
