Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh Lose out in All-Ireland Final

Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh fell at the final hurdle in the All-Ireland ‘B’ Final on Wednesday afternoon when they were beaten 4-2 by St. Paul’s CBS at Waterford FC’s Regional Sports Complex.

The Limerick school began brightly and took the lead when Scott McEvoy pounced on a mistake from goalkeeper Dylan O’Toole to finish from am Eoghan Burke free-kick.

Shortly afterwards, the Dublin outfit equalised through an Eric Yoro penalty. James Hegney’s close range goal gave St. Paul’s the lead.

Paul Evans Limerick side once again showed great character to level when a combination of McEvoy and Burke allowed the latter to score. Lee Dunne gave St. Paul’s the lead when he beat the offside trap to coolly slot home.

The unfortunate Scott McEvoy was unable to add to his earlier goal and saw a penalty saved by O’Toole. Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh threw everything at their opposition with efforts from Dara and Arron Hough and Eoghan Burke but as the Shannonsiders pushed forward, Dunne added a fourth goal to seal the victory for the school from the capital.
