Novel Business Initiative Launched to Promote Burren Region

Autumn Sunrise, The Burren, County Clare, Ireland

A new initiative to keep visitors connected with the Burren Region has been launched by Burren Ecotourism Network.

A special Burren gift voucher has been developed to allow people to plan a trip to the Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark, or to send a great gift to their family and friends to visit this special area once travel restrictions have been lifted.

Commenting on the initiative, Jarlath O’Dwyer, CEO, Burren Ecotourism Network, said:

“Like many businesses experiencing a major decline in the current climate, we knew that we needed to come up with an innovative way to keep visitors coming to our area and protect the livelihoods of our network members.

“We knew by the feedback on social media that many people were missing being able to spend time out in the great outdoors of the Burren, as well as missing the great hospitality provided by the local businesses and we developed the voucher to respond to this need.” he said.

The Burren Ecotourism Network has almost 65 members which last year were employing over 1,000 people.  The membership includes Hotels, Guest Houses, food producers, restaurants, cafes, experience providers and visitor attractions.

“We saw the success of the Burren Basket which went for sale on-line some weeks ago and decided to go further by launching the Burren voucher.

“We wanted to give people a chance to reunite in the Burren with the people that they are missing when we can travel again,” said Mr O’Dwyer.

The vouchers can be redeemed in all participating Burren Ecotourism Network Businesses and are available onwww.burren.ie/shop/
