LIMERICK Fine Gael TD and Minister of State Patrick O’Donovan has confirmed that the influenza vaccine will be freely available to children between the ages of two and 12 as well as all at-risk groups in Limerick this winter.

“Limerick people in the HSE-defined at-risk groups, between six months and 69 years, are also entitled to the flu jab free of charge as part of the expanded seasonal influenza vaccination programme for winter 2020/21.

“A second wave of Covid-19 coupled with the winter flu has the potential to overwhelm Limerick hospitals and cause needless deaths and illness. The Department of Health are working closely with the HSE to expand the seasonal influenza programme in Limerick,” Minister O’Donovan explained.
