Limerick’s Top Doggy Names Revealed

Limerick City was the chosen location as for the past two years, puppies from the county have taken home the coveted Puppy of the Year title and fronted national campaigns for Petmania. LIMERICK’S most popular doggy names are Bailey and Milo.
Petmania, the Irish owned pet-retailer has analysed over 1,100 entries for this year’s Puppy of the Year competition, and voting is now open in the national search for Ireland’s top-dog. The competition has unveiled an eclectic list of popular doggy names.
Across the nation the top-ten most popular names for man’s best friend are:
1.            Bailey
2.            Luna                                   
3.            Ruby
4.            Teddy
5.            Charlie
6.            Lola
7.            Toby
8.            Alfie
9.            Bella
10.          Buddy
Whilst the list of entrants included the traditional Max, Rex and Scooby, some more unusual choices referenced pop-culture with Bono, Thor and SheRa! Whiskey, Sneachta and Mrs. Princess Buttons are some of the less expected dog-names included.
Ireland’s most popular breed is the Golden Retriever in the top spot, followed by Labradors, Jack Russell Terriers and Cockapoos.
Alison Flaherty Bedford from Petmania Jetland & Natalia Smelkowska from Petmania Eastpoint said, “We were overwhelmed with the response to this year’s Puppy of the Year Competition. A new furry friend is such a joy and it’s fantastic to see so many puppies being celebrated in the competition. Good luck to all of the entrants.”
With over €1,500 worth of prizes to be won by one very lucky puppy, Petmania is asking people from across Limerick to vote for their favourite by logging on to petmania.ie to have their say!
The first round of voting is open now to identify the top five Puppies representing Petmania Jetland and the top five Puppies representing Petmania Eastpoint. These puppies will receive a qualifier’s rosette and gift from the competition partner, BETA, and will move forward into round two. The puppy with the most votes at each location in round two will go forward into the Grand Final.
The winner of the Petmania Puppy of the Year 2020 will be announced via Petmania’s social media channels on Friday 20th November 2020.
