€1.25 million Covid grant for Milford Hospice

MILFORD Hospice is to receive an immediate once-off grant of €1.25 million from the HSE to cover Covid19 related costs which have arisen since the onset of the pandemic.

The allocation comes from a €10 million fund to a number of hospices across the country that have seen their fund-raising capacity restricted because of the Covid restrictions.

The funding for Milford was confirmed by Limerick Ministers of State Niall Collins and Patrick O’Donovan.

Minister O’Donovan said it would come as a welcome relief to the hardworking staff and management who had experienced grave difficulties with their traditional fundraising activities.

“The work carried out at Milford touches every part of Limerick and the Mid West with many families having at least one loved one who has been cared for there.

“This is part of the Government’s Covid response to the delivery of vital health services and we can expect further supports like this to be rolled out to other parts of the health, community and voluntary health sectors who have been so badly impacted by Covid”.

Minister Collins said it would greatly help the immense work and service provided at Milford Hospice who like so many other organisations have also experienced so many challenges in their fundraising activities.

“I’d like to thank the staff and management of Milford Hospice for their very kind and professional ongoing service to the people of Limerick,” he added.
