“Yes, it’s strange but we are obviously happy to be where we are”

Limerick captain Declan Hannon

IT’S GAS like putting up a Christmas tree on one hand, and with the other preparing for an All-Ireland Final.

There was huge hype associated with 2018, it was massive with all the bunting and flags. You were going around the city and everyone wanted a word with you about the match. This year it’s all so different, we’re all working from home as much as possible.

Yes, it’s strange but we are obviously happy to be where we are.
In 2018 it was all very new to us, playing at Croke Park. But we are more experienced now playing in these bigger matches. It’s going to be difficult this year with no crowd….in ’18 the crowd was unbelievable. It’s going to be really, really quiet at Croke Park, which is strange.

There’s nothing between any of the teams really. Waterford put us to the pin of our collar in the Munster Final, and that will be the same again on Sunday, no doubt. In 2018, everyone in Ireland, bar a few from Galway, wanted Limerick to win. This year, everyone in Ireland want Waterford to win, unless you are from Limerick.

We can only focus on our preparation and get to the pitch in the best possible shape and put in a performance on the day. And, if its’ good enough, it’s good enough and if it’s not then well it’s not. But we will be doing everything in our power to get this All-Ireland Final win.
