MINISTER of State and Limerick TD, Niall Collins has welcomed €418,662 in outdoor amenity funding for the county, as part of a greater national announcement made today.
Minister Collins commented, “The upgrade to the Limerick Greenway is great news for Abbeyfeale, Newcastle West, Rathkeale and surrounding areas. The €418,662 will help with the provision of signage, amenity areas and Greenway furniture to promote, engage and narrate this wonderful countryside recreation amenity.
The Limerick TD continued: “We all know how important the outdoors and outdoor amenities have been to all of us during the pandemic.
“This investment will help make a significant contribution to supporting healthy, active lifestyles in the area while also building upon the economic and tourism potential.
“This project will encourage tourists and locals alike to experience the unique countryside and natural environment in the area.”
Speaking today, Orla Carroll, Director of Product Development, Fáilte Ireland said: “Today’s announcement of €6 million investment into 14 large scale projects around Ireland provides for new and enhanced outdoor activity infrastructure for tourists in Ireland.
“The availability of world-class outdoor activities and experiences like trails, cycleways and blueways will play a key role in tourism as we prepare for re-opening and recovery, and the variety and regional spread of these projects, along with those funded in earlier measures of the ORIS Scheme, will benefit communities and visitors nationwide.”
