Gardai appeal for information after “shots fired” at Limerick house

GARDAI have appealed for information after shots were reportedly fired at a house occupied by a family in Limerick city, this morning.

The early morning alleged gun attack occurred at Greenmount Avenue, Ballincaurra Weston, on the south of the city around 3.30am.

The house – which was occupied at the time – was later sealed off for a number of hours to allow gardai carry out a technical examination.

A window was damaged, but no one was injured, however gardai are taking the matter very seriously, informed sources said.

“Gardaí are investigating an alleged firearms incident outside a house in Greenmount Avenue, Ballinacurra, Co. Limerick in April 23, 2021. Shortly before 3.30am Gardaí from Roxboro Road received a report that shots had been fired at the window of a house,” said a garda spokesman.

“No person was injured during the incident. The suspect is believed to have then fled the scene on foot towards Childers Road,” they added.

Gardai appealed “for anyone with any information to contact Roxboro Road Garda Station on 061-214340, the Garda Confidential line on 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.”

A garda spokesman said: “No arrest have been made and the investigation is ongoing.”
