Christmas Markets and Festive Concerts planned for Ballyhoura

BALLYHOURA Country, the stunning tourist region situated on the crossroads of Limerick, Cork and Tipperary, has a busy schedule of Christmas events planned, with Santa Claus dropping into several locations, as well as an range of exciting Christmas Markets, concerts and theatre events.

Santa Claus will be splitting his time in Ballyhoura between his grotto in Lough Gur – where he arrives on Saturday November 27 – and Castle Oaks House Hotel in Castleconnell, from Sunday November 28. He’ll be leaving both venues on December 19 to return to the North Pole to oversee the last of the gift- manufacturing, making sure the Elves are on top on the hectic schedule.

Christmas Markets are taking place throughout the region as follows: Rockbarton Garden Centre will host its 6th Annual Boutique Christmas Market on Sunday December 5 from 10am-4pm.

Also on December 5 from 12pm-6pm, in Kilmallock, Ahern Nurseries hosts its Christmas Fair Extravaganza with lots of festive fare to enjoy; the highlight will no doubt be the arrival at 2pm of Santa. There are whispers that he has gifts for all the children who come say hello.

This year’s Christmas Craft Fair at St John’s Church Knockainey will be celebrated on December 17 from 5pm, with over 30 local crafters. Santa will be available to meet and greet children and pose for a family photo.

The Christmas Outdoor Evening Market is being hosted at The Ballyneety Community Hub on Sunday, December 19 from 3pm-7pm.

Friars Gate Theatre, Kilmallock, will present Centrestage Theatre Company Little Red Riding Hood’s Christmas Adventure, opening on December 15 for a limited run.

Meanwhile, the final concert in the “Castleconnell Autumn Concert Series”, presented by Limerick City and County Council Arts Office, in partnership with Love Castleconnell and introduced by Liz Nolan of RTE Lyric FM, takes place on Tuesday November 30 at 8pm.

The featured artists are the Navarra Quartet, and the concert takes place at All Saint’s Church, Castleconnell, Co. Limerick and online.

Finally, Eithne Hehir of Ballyhoura Ceramics, is having an open day in her studio – The Convent in Bruff – on Sunday November 28 from 11am-4pm.
