ADARE will ply their trade in the Intermediate ranks in both Camogie and Ladies Football next year.

Adare completed the perfect week as they added 3Dental Junior Ladies football honours to the Camogie title they earned last week with an emphatic win over Athea in Askeaton on Sunday afternoon.

The girls in red and black laid out their stall early and by the first waterbreak they had found the back of the net four times.

In the end, five more would follow as they ran out comprehensive 9-5 to 0-5 winners.

Athea got off the mark first with a free but from here on in it was all Adare. Sophie O’Callaghan kicked a pair of points to give Adare the lead. Goalkeeper, Mary Shire was the first to find the net as she slotted home from the penalty spot after 9 minutes.

Elle Sorenson grabbed the second with a thunderous finish to the top corner after 13 minutes as Aoibhfinn Burke found the net two minutes later.

On the call for the first waterbreak, player of the match Lauren Ryan got her first of the game to give Adare a 4-3 to 0-1 lead.

And things could have been much worse were it not for the efforts of Athea goalkeeper Sarah O’Connor who made a couple of crucial saves as all else fell around her.

Things settled after the break with no score for ten minutes before Ryan bagged her second. Shire then followed suit from the penalty spot once more.

That gave Adare a commanding 6-3 to 0-3 lead at the short whistle.

Ryan completed her hat trick a minute after the restart, showing more composure in front of goal. Caoimhe Costello had Adare’s eighth green flag, adding to her goal in last week’s camogie final.

And Orlaith Kelleher rounded out the goalscoring approaching the final whistle as Adare finally gained promotion to the Intermediate football ranks.
