LIMERICK City and County Council is to produce a document to commemorate local involvement in the  War of Independence.

It follows a motion from Fine Gael councillor John Egan who asked the council to publish a booklet similar to the War of Independence West Cork Trail published by Cork County Council Library Service.

Speaking at this month’s Cappamore-Kilmallock Municipal District meeting, Cllr Egan said that such a publication would honour those who played a role in the struggle for independence throughout the city and county.

County Librarian Damien Brady told him that the publication will be included in the Decade of Centenaries Commemoration Programme that will be produced by the local authority this year.
