Council funding to make cycle lane usable

LIMERICK City and County Council have confirmed an allocation of funding to address issues on sections of cycle lane that have been rendered unusable between Patrickswell and Raheen.

The funding will improve entrances to fields along the route to help reduce mud soiling of the cycle lane and also to install kerbing on sections within the 50kph speed limit zones.

Welcoming the allocation Patrickswell Councillor Dan McSweeney said, “This is a step forward in addressing the issues that have been raised by many in the local community along this cycle lane, but I believe we need to have a major look at our maintenance plans for all cycle routes.”
