Caherdavin Men’s Shed makes welcome return

Members of Caherdavin Men’s Shed celebrating their Christmas get-together.

CAHERDAVIN and District Men’s Shed is celebrating a return to normality and is looking forward to welcoming new members.
Weekly meetings take place at the Scout Hall on Tuesdays at 10.30am. The meetings usually consist of 10 minutes of exercise, followed by tea and chat, then friendly games of 45, pool, darts and scooch.
During 2021 the members enjoyed a number of trips – a cruise up the Shannon ticked a bucket list item for our oldest member, we visited Galway city, Doneraile Court, the Palatine Museum, and the Greenway at Barnagh.
We visited Dublin Castle in March, and April will take us to the Tenement Museum, Henrietta Street, Dublin. In May, members will pay a visit to the National Stud and Japanese Gardens in Kildare, while in June we will travel to Spike Island in Cork Harbour. In July, we plan to visit Scattery Island in the Shannon Estuary, and August will take us to Cahir Castle and the Swiss Cottage in Co Tipperary. Later in the year, we will head to Emo Court, near Portlaoise in September, and in October we plan to visit Birr Castle and Observatory,
We will also organise more walks in Cratloe, Corbally, Glenstal, the Clare Glens, and Mungret  as the weather gets better. We plan to visit Arás an Uachtarán and hope to get an audience with the President, who is patron of the Irish Men’s Sheds.
We are looking for new members and welcome you to the Scout Hall any Tuesday morning at 10.30 to have a look at what we do without any commitment. Don’t stay at home wondering, give it a try, come to the Scout Hall.
Ladies, we do not want to say that we are a kindergarten for men, but you might look at it that way!
We plan to provide activities like basket making, woodwork, allotment gardening, and computer classes for silver surfers. We are open to all suggestions for activities that interest our members.
