LIME Tree Theatre and Belltable have announced dates for their annual Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival. The popular two week event happens from Saturday October 1 to Friday October 14 2022.
The team led by festival curator Liam McCarthy are currently working on an exciting programme of events for their annual Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival this October.
As always, the aim is to ensure the festival continues to inspire and engage teachers, children and their families in the performing arts.
Building upon the success of previous festivals, this year the programme is even more ambitious than ever.
“The festival dates are announced today in the hope that teachers, parents and guardians in the mid-west region will mark these two important weeks of the year in the diary – Saturday 1 until Friday14 October. Our youngest citizens need you so they can actively participate and be part of the fun this autumn.”
Liam McCarthy, Festival Curator said “Over the last 6 months, the Bualadh Bos team have consulted with the ‘Bualadh Bos Children’s Panel’ – a group of children who have worked closely with us on the festival’s artistic programme.
“This year will see the best of Irish and International theatre for children playing across the Lime Tree Theatre and Belltable stages, as well as dance, film, talk-back events and community projects. We will also host the world premieres of new, home grown, theatre work for children. The ‘Bualadh Bos on Tour’ programme will see increased engagement with schools and teachers across Limerick City and County.”
As Limerick’s only arts festival dedicated to children we are delighted to announce three exciting highlight performances as a snapshot of what’s to come this October.
The festival opens with the world premiere of a beautiful new show by Liam McCarthy called Fergal. We also present the Irish premiere of I Wish I was A Mountain presented by The Egg which initially tours to Limerick from the UK before it embarks on a national tour. Finally for all Branar fans out there we welcome back the Galway based company with a brand new show Grand Soft Day. All three events have both family and school performances, bookings are now open on the website.
Also this year the Bualadh Bos On Tour programme will have a keen emphasis on community engagement and child participation. In particular we are excited to partner with Dr Fiona McDonagh and Dr Dorothy Morrissey (Mary Immaculate College) for the MIC Student Take Over on the Lime Tree Theatre stage.
“This festival guarantees the perfect opportunity for children to be creative in a fun way, it allows them to use their imagination sparked by superb theatre, dance, music, creative workshops and lots more.
The full festival programme, including details of our On Tour programme will be available late August 2022. Keep updated with announcements by subscribing to our newsletter or keeping an eye on our social media platforms.”
