Woman seriously injured in Limerick City assault

GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Limerick City in the early hours of yesterday (Monday) morning.

A woman in her 40s was assaulted on a number of occasions on Parnell Street and Parnell Place between 11.15 pm and 1.45 am. She was taken from the scene by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick to be treated for her injuries.

A man in his 40s was arrested and appeared before Limerick District Court this (Tuesday) morning. Gardaí are anxious to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity of Colbert Station, Parnell Street, Parnell Place, Hyde Road and Davis Street between 11pm and 2am.

They are also appealing to those with video footage (including dash-cam) to make it available to them.
