AN TAISCEย is urging Limerick students and families to cycle to school as part of its new Green Schools and Safe Routes to School programme.

The programme aims at raising awareness around how active travel for shorter school runs can helpย alleviate pressures of rising fuel costs, which may be putting increased pressure on families as the new term begins.

An Taisceย are encouraging families to โ€˜cycle to school on your own fuelโ€™. Considering that there are 183 days in a school year, An Taisce notes, a 1.5km round trip cycle at both pick-up and drop-off could save a family approximately โ‚ฌ225 on car fuel alone.
