Gardaí investigating “vicious” daytime assault

LIMERICK gardaí are investigating an incident in which a man was assaulted by five other males in broad daylight on a city street.

On Wednesday, September 21, a man was attacked by a gang of five males at 3.30pm on Mungret Street.

He was viciously beaten and knocked unconscious, having received a number of head injuries.

The victim was later removed to University Hospital Limerick by ambulance, where he was treated for his injuries, and he has now made a full recovery.

Garda John Finnerty of Henry Street Garda Station said: “This was a vicious and pointless attack and as such has no place in our society. The gardaí at Henry Street Garda Station are investigating and are seeking your help in identifying the culprits involved. Unfortunately we do not have a description of them. There would have been a large number of people either walking on Mungret Street or driving by at the time of the attack – ie at 3.30pm. If you were one of them and you saw this attack, then please contact the gardaí at Henry Street Garda Station at 061 212400.”
