Limerick council plans for housing in Thomondgate

Labour Party Councillor Conor Sheehan

LIMERICK City and County Council has no immediate plans for housing development at Donnellan’s Field in Thomondgate.

At last week’s Metropolitan District meeting Labour Party councillor Conor Sheehan asked when a planning application for housing at Donnellan’s Field will be submitted.

Council Director of Housing Caroline Curley explained that there is no planning application being submitted for housing in the area known as Donnellan’s Field.

However, she pointed out that a consortium was selected as joint partners for the development of a residentially zoned site at New Road, Thomondgate.

“This project will not only deliver much-needed mixed-tenure affordable cost-rental and rightsizing homes, but also a public riverside amenity park for the benefit of the entire City,” she said.
