Woman admits assaulting and robbing 12-year-old boy in Limerick

A WOMAN has been remanded on bail for sentencing at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court after she pleaded guilty to assaulting and robbing a 12-year old boy in Limerick City in July 2021.

Denise O’Keefe, (34), with an address at Thomond House, Limerick, admitted several offences including assault causing harm to the boy, robbing the his mobile phone, and causing criminal damage to his headphones.

The assault and robbery occurred near the Technical University of the Shannon (TUS), on the Old Cratloe Road, Limerick.

Prosecuting counsel John O’Sullivan told Judge Tom O’Donnell that the boy, who is now aged 14, cannot be identified as he is a minor.

Ms O’Keefe is currently living in ‘step-down’ accommodation in Dublin after recently completing a treatment course for addiction.

Agreeing to abide by a number of bail conditions, including that she does not make any contact with any witnesses in the case, she was remanded on continuing bail for sentence on March 15, 2023.

Damian Fitzgerald, (36), with an address at Ballynanty Road, Limerick, was also before the court accused of assaulting the boy.

Detective Garda Eoin McDonagh told Judge O’Donnell that Mr Fitzgerald, who is on bail awaiting trial, has been recently living at an address in Fairhill, Cork City.
