Young Limerick people need to be streetwise

Limerick Garda Crime Prevention Officer Sgt Ber Leetch

GARDAÍ are advising young Limerick people to be streetwise on the basis that while some will do this instinctively, others may need some coaching.

“It is about being aware of your surroundings, who is near you and why you might be perceived as a target,” Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street Garda Station, Sgt Ber Leetch explained.

“Plan your journey. Do not walk in isolated areas alone at any time of the day or night. If you believe you are being followed, cross the street and go to a safe place like a shop or business.

“Stay there until you feel safe or get somebody to collect you,” Sgt Leetch advised.
