Limerick water supply could be discoloured over coming week

Irish Water Limerick Operations Manager Duane O'Brien.

IRISH Water is warning of the possibility of intermittent discolouration of the water supply in Limerick City and environs over the coming week.

Tap water may appear brown or orange for up to 48 hours as a result of maintenance work at the Newcastle Reservoir from Tuesday, January 10 to Tuesday, January 17.

If discolouration occurs, people are being advised to run the kitchen tap for a few minutes to see if the water returns to a clear colour.

Irish Water Limerick Operations Manager Duane O’Brien said the scheduled maintenance works are necessary to continue to provide a safe and reliable supply to Limerick City and its environs.

“Irish Water understands the inconvenience when essential maintenance is carried out on the water network and thanks customers for their patience while we complete works as quickly as possible.
