Make a splash in the New Year with Splash Swim School

Bríd Graham, founder of Splash Swim School.

SPLASH Swim School is making big waves in Limerick in 2023 as their schedule of swimming lessons are set to kick off for parents and kids alike.
Splash was founded in 2013 by Bríd Graham, a primary school teacher and dairy-farmer. Her vision was to develop a swim class that allowed students of all ages progress in small groups, at a pace that is both suitable and fun for them.
The constantly expanding school, says Bríd, is all about allowing students to learn within their own comfort zones, which is why parents now accompany children into the water, instead of teachers! This provides children with security, confidence and a focussed swim lesson; parents learn teaching skills and help children progress between lessons! As soon as children are suited to independent lessons, they use an Aquaplane to help them develop their strokes. It’s an approach which Bríd believes is cutting up to 12 months off the learning journey.
Their timetables are designed to best suit busy families, accommodating siblings at similar times if possible and organising classes at times that suit hectic working schedules.
“For us, it is not only swimming. It’s about ensuring each child is placed in a group which suits their age, personality, and allows them to develop their self-confidence as a sports person,” said school founder Bríd.
“Students are challenged, comforted, and pushed to beyond what they believe they can achieve, from blowing bubbles for the first time, to swimming their first length, to mastering a stroke with a high degree of personal self-belief.”
Splash Swim School operates seven days a week across seven locations, including the Clayton Hotels in Limerick, Galway, Cork, and Sligo, the Pier Head Hotel in Mullaghmore, Co Sligo, the Radisson Blu in Sligo and Waterford’s Crystal Sports and Leisure Centre.
