Limerick Gardaí seek help in catching unholy thieves

GARDAÍ are seeking help to solve an unholy crime in which money was stolen from a church in County Limerick.

Two men entered the Church of the Assumption in Abbeyfeale on Thursday, January 12  between 5.15 and 5.40 in the evening.

Limerick Garda Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Ber Leetch said: “They went straight to the donation box that was attached to a pew at the rear of the church.”

“They managed to break the donation box off and walk out of the church with it and into a waiting car. CCTV is available but Gardaí are looking for any witnesses to this incident to please contact them on 068 30010.”

This is the latest in a string of thefts from county churches, with church donations, cash from a poor box, and valuable church items having been taken in separate crimes before Christmas.
